Near-Infrared Reagents and the IR202: 'Near-Infrared' chemistries are designed to produce accurate results on samples of all species, even on those which are visibly-compromised by haemolysis or lipaemia. 

The Royal Dick “Results of Interference Study” which compared results obtained from chemistry analysis sera on the IR200 analyser versus the referral laboratory analyser at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh concluded that

(a)  several of the conventional methods as currently used by the laboratory, are prone to systematic interference in the presence of Haemolysis and/or Turbidity,            

and  (b)  the near-infrared methods eliminate these effects. 

Examples of these clinically-significant inaccuracies are shown in the effect of Haemolysis on Glucose Cholesterol and Bilirubin, and in the effect of Turbidity on Calcium, Total Protein,
